2019 Camp Avary - Another Incredible Year!

What is the best part of summer? Here at Avary, it would be our two weeks spent at sleep-away camp in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. It's during this time that the whole Avary family comes together as one community, and it's  when we reconnect with the beauty and peace of the great outdoors.

Each day, the camp offers a variety of outdoor workshops where the campers can tap into and cultivate their creative expression, emotional awareness, and experience the joys found in play that is free from any stress or demand of home and city life. Most importantly, the camp is a cultivated family filled with caring adults and peers who support one another through the struggles of having a parent in prison.

The pictures in this newsletter offer you a glimpse into the love and magic of Camp Avary. We couldn’t make summer camp happen without the support of our incredible community of donors and volunteers. We’re so grateful for your partnership and we hope you enjoy this sneak peek of all the fun we had at Camp Avary 2019!

At camp, the children get the opportunity to learn positive self-expression through poetry classes, music & art lessons, swimming, team-building exercises, and emotional intelligence workshops. Self-awareness and the ability to communicate feelings is vital to healthy  development, and we see the positive impacts of these workshops as our youth grow into teens and become healthy and strong leaders in our program.
