Help us end generational cycles of incarceration by building brighter futures for children with a parent in prison.

Did you know that over 2.7 million children in the U.S. have a parent in prison, and it's estimated that over 10 million children countrywide have been impacted by parental incarceration at some point in their lives?

Currently, an estimated 300,000 of those children live right here in the Bay Area.

Children with a parent in prison suffer enduring childhood trauma that affects their physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being: they’re 72% more likely to suffer from PTSD, are 43% more likely to have behavioral issues, such as aggression, disobedience, defiance, and are more likely to end up in the criminal justice system themselves. It is our mission to end generational cycles of incarceration, by responding to and supporting the unique emotional needs of this at-risk population. We offer local children with a parent in prison a 10-year commitment of service and support, as we help them heal from the impacts of their parents' incarceration and guide them as they develop the critical life-skills necessary to become thriving and resilient adults. All services are provided at no cost to our youth and their families.

Our “Break the Cycle” campaign is a call to action: we’re asking YOU, our community members, to rally together, creating a network of support, love, and hope for the next generation of at-risk youth.

We’re offering an opportunity for you to make a direct statement about your commitment to ending generational cycles of incarceration. If you have any questions, if you would like to make a connection for Project Avary, or if you would like to get involved in any other way, please contact me at 415.457.8799 x308 or
